Three Prentiss men arrested in murder investigation

JEFFERSON DAVIS COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

In the latest developments, Jefferson Davis County authorities and the Mississippi Bureau of Investigations have arrested three people in connection with the murder of Scotty Herring.

According to the Sheriff Henry McCullum, deputies were called to a home on Walker Newsome Road late Saturday night, where they found the 27-year-old shot.

Herring was rushed to a local hospital and later died.

In a news release Thursday, the sheriff identified the suspects as 22-year-old Joshua Williams, 23-year-old Constance Melton and 22-year-old Terrance C. Gatlin -- all from Prentiss.

No details of the murder or motive were released.  Charges against these men are pending.
