The United States of America officially welcomed 30 new citizens during a naturalization ceremony in downtown Jackson Thursday morning.
The brand new Americans represented 19 different nations, including Pakistan, Yemen, China and Italy.
The ceremony was a celebration for the individuals and their families.
Neil Witherow from Italy said, "It's definitely a great honor and a great privilege and I want to thank, particularly the God who made this country."
The journey to become U.S. citizens culminated with taking an oath of allegiance and being presented a certificate making their citizenship official.
A side note -- this was one of the final proceedings in the Eastland Courthouse.
All federal legal proceedings will be conducted in the new federal courthouse on Court Street.
