JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Ole Miss fans who have not accepted the schools new black bear mascot are on a tour across the state hoping keep Colonel Reb alive.
It's called the Colonel Reb Road Tour and it stopped in Jackson tonight at the Cherokee Drive Inn.
This tour is an outreach effort of the Colonel Re Foundation, which is the largest campus organization at Ole Miss
The goal is to eventually get Colonel Reb back on the sidelines.
Former Ole Miss football great "Gentle" Ben Williams was the guest speaker and he says having the Colonel back wouldn't be so bad.
"It's real political, a lot of people are against it. The Colonel has been a big part of Ole Miss history and a part of my history. I'm not against it," said Williams.
The Colonel Reb foundation will start a north Mississippi tour in July.
