The City of Vicksburg is still working to deal with the Great Flood of 2011, but there were many smiling faces in Downtown Monday night.
45 Miss Mississippi contestants rolled through Downtown for the annual parade as the River City rolled out the red carpet for their arrival.
It is tradition.
It is time for the Miss Mississippi contestants to put on their gowns and their tiaras to greet family, fans and supporters.
The contestants arrived in Vicksburg Sunday and after hours of rehearsals 15 of them met with judges Monday morning for the first round of interviews.
The judges' interviews continue through Wednesday, the first night of preliminary competition.
After the parade the contestants headed back to the Vicksburg Convention Center for an autograph party.
The contestants return Tuesday for more rehearsals in preparation for this year's production which is called "Flicks".
It will feature songs from movies such as, "Top Gun", "Grease", and "Dirty Dancing".
This year in addition to the Miss Mississippi contestants, the Princes and Princesses were included in the parade.
They will perform each night, and present flowers on stage to each young woman they are assigned to.
All of this in preparation for Saturday night when the Top 10 contestants are announced and compete for the chance to become, Miss Mississippi 2011.
Dress rehearsal for the contestants and the cast will be held Tuesday night, it is closed to the public.
