RANKIN COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Ross Barnett Reservoir Patrol officers recovered a body out of the Reservoir in Rankin County shortly after 6, Tuesday morning.

The body of Gilberto Alvero Hernandez, 29, of Pearl was discovered in the water early this morning at Lakeshore Park.

Emergency crews with the Reservoir Patrol and Rankin County Sheriff's Department planned on resuming their search efforts at 7 Tuesday morning, but Hernandez's body was discovered floating.

Reservoir Patrol Chief Perry Waggener says, " he was swimming with a group of people lastnight and began to exhibit signs of distress and then went under, at this time we believe it to be an accidental drowning, but the investigation is ongoing pending the autopsy results."

An autopsy on Hernandez is expected within the next 48 hours.
