RANKIN COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

WLBT News has learned that the motorcycle passenger who was killed in a collision with an SUV on Monday was Ann Jensen, a longtime Jackson-area real-estate agent.

Reservoir Patrol Chief Perry Waggener says Jensen, 77, was a passenger on a BMW motorcycle driven by her husband, Jim. Their motorcycle collided with a Ford Escape SUV around 11:30 Monday morning on Spillway Road, near the site of the old Rapids on the Reservoir.

Jim Jensen and the driver of the SUV were taken to a hospital with injuries described as not life-threatening. Ann Jensen was also taken to the hospital, where she later died.

Ann Jensen had been active in the real-estate business since the 1970s, according to Jo Usry, CEO of the Jackson Association of Realtors. Usry described Jensen as a pioneer in the business at a time (in the 1970s) when it was frowned upon for women to serve in leadership capacities in Realtor organizations. She served as president of the Multiple Listings Service in Jackson in 1989.

Though Ann Jensen had semi-retired, Usry says Jensen was marketing properties for several sellers at the time of her death.
