EDWARDS, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A call placed to 3 on Your Side claims that all of the money the town of Edwards received to build a new police station was not used. The caller also says the remaining funds are missing.

Meanwhile, the building sits empty as town officials try to get it finished in order to pass inspection.

The caller says Edwards got a grant for $35,000 to build the station, but it didn't cost that much.

The caller also says the difference between the actual cost and $35,000 has disappeared, and the bonding company will not let the police move in.

Edwards Police Chief Louis "Ba Ba" Johnson says that is not true.

"Not any truth to that according to my knowledge" said Johnson. "It hasn't passed inspection."

"He (the mayor) doesn't know anything about it either" Johnson added.

The Edwards mayor and aldermen were all out of town at the Mississippi municipal convention.

The chief says there is a problem with the electrical meter.

He also says there is plenty of water, but nobody has been watering the sod around the building and it has died. and

The Chief says that is another reason the building has not passed inspection.

Chief Johnson tells us Edwards has 10 police officers and six police cars.
