JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A Jackson doctor pleaded guilty to violating an anti-kickback statute.

Investigators say 64-year-old Doctor Earnest Rankin and a co-conspirator received kickbacks from Longwind Products and Services a supplier of wheelchairs.

The doctor issued certificates of medical necessity for power wheelchairs when the beneficiaries were not medically eligible to receive Medicare funded power chairs.

Rankin has agreed to make full restitution to Medicare.

Doctor Rankin's private family medical practice is located on Bailey Avenue in Jackson.

He had been there since 1985.

Sentencing is set for September 15th.
