Troopers track holiday travel

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Dozens of crashes have been investigated on state roadways as Mississippians begin their July Fourth holiday travel.

M.H.P. Corporal Todd Miller said no fatalities have been reported on state roads so far.

Since the start of the travel period Friday at six o'clock, troopers have investigated 36 crashes statewide, two were alcohol related.

There were 12 total injuries.

Forty nine DUI arrests were made.

Highway patrolmen issued 714 traffic tickets and 477 non-moving violation citations.

There were two drug arrests and one felony arrest.

Forty six seat belt citations were also issued along with 10 child restraint tickets.
