CANTON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

This July Fourth weekend offered lots of fun on land and in the air.

The skies over Canton were filled with color Saturday during the Mississippi Championship Hot Air Balloon Race and Festival.

A special treat was a giant replica of the Space Shuttle Patriot.

More than 25 balloons were featured during the balloon glow, festival and races.

There was also a fun zone for the kids.

The three day event wrapped up Sunday morning.

The annual event is described as family oriented and a crowd pleaser.

The balloon exhibition was followed by a fireworks show and entertainment.

"In the last few years we've expected 4,000 to 5, 000 people to come here now for the fireworks show, for the fun for the kids and the food that we have. You have vendors that sell so it's been a number one activity," Canton Parks and Recreations Director Alvin Davis.

This is the 25th year the hot air balloon championships have been held in Canton.
