July 4th travel turns deadly

The July 4th travel period has turned deadly on our state roadways.

MHP reports investigating one fatality in Simpson County.

Forty-five crashes have been investigated statewide, two were alcohol related. Those accidents resulted in 16 injuries.

Troopers have made 97 DUI arrests; 820 traffic tickets were issued along with 619 for non-moving violations.

Three drug and three felony arrests have been made since Friday night.

Sixty-five people have also been ticketed for not wearing their seat belt.
