Steamy & Rainy Start to July...

Posted: Updated:

A surge of warm moist air from the south west will set up for a very steamy July 4th with a better chance of spot showers that we've seen in some time. Once again scattered storms will develop in the late afternoon and evening hours.

Don't expect widespread severe weather, however, a few strong storms can't be ruled out with gusty winds the main threat. The early models indicate that winds are likely to accelerate to 40-55 mph in areas where the storms hit.

Most storms will end in time for evening fireworks, but a storm or two may linger as late as 10PM. So don't cancel your fireworks festivities, but be careful and take all precautions.

A strong sea breeze is expected to play a major role in our weather this week. By Wednesday we are expecting a front to stall just to our north, setting the perfect stage for above normal rain chances.

This is a far cry from the drastically dry conditions we've had over the last 2-3 months, so we may receive much needed rain.  July may present an opportunity to catch up with some of the rain needed for local farmers, provided the rain chance stick around all month long.
