Wednesday's Child - Willie and Lorenzo

Posted: Updated:

As hot as the temperatures have been outside, this week on Wednesday's Child we meet two brothers who almost gave us a cold shoulder when it came to talking about being in foster care and waiting for a forever family. Willie and Lorenzo hope to be adopted together but getting them to talk was harder than snow in July.

"My name is Willie and my age is 11 and I'm going to the 5th grade", said Willie.

"Lorenzo. Lorenzo, okay and how old are you? 12", Lorenzo said.

This was about as excited as Willie and Lorenzo got about doing a television interview. They did come to life once they could knock the golf ball around at Mac and Bones in Pearl.

"I love to play basketball", said Willie.

"I like playing basketball with my brother. You like playing basketball with your brother? What else? I like hanging out with him", Lorenzo said.

Both boys are competitive and fun loving. They hope to find a family who also enjoys sports.

"Tell me some other things that you like to do. Play soccer", said Lorenzo.

"I'm a little shy. You're a little shy. Do you have lots of friends? Nods yes. What do you like to do with your friends? Play basketball, go have tournaments, play football and most of all what I love doing with my friends is going over to their house and spending the night", Willie said.

They are involved in church and hope that when they are adopted they will be able to maintain contact with their foster and birth families.

"A loving family, that takes care of us", Lorenzo said.

"I feel kind of good. Just kind of good? Nods yes. Would you like to be adopted? Nods yes."

Willie and Lorenzo were featured a year ago and so far their wait for a permanent family continues.

To learn more about adoption through the Department of Human Services, call the Mississippi Adoption Resource Exchange at 1-800-821-9157.

Wednesday's Child is sponsored by Wendy's and WLBT.
