Canton fire fighter suffers smoke inhalation

CANTON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A Canton firefighter is being treated at a Jackson hospital.

Chief Andrew Hughes confirms 28-year-old firefighter, Daniel Watkins was injured while on duty.

Watkins suffered smoke and heat inhalation fighting a blaze Wednesday in Canton.

Chief Hughes says the fire was reported at 358 north West Street.

Watkins is being treated at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center. He has been a firefighter in Canton for four years.

The fire and Watkins' injury are under investigation.
