Chief Beasley Denson responds to a tribal upset following an election for Mississippi Choctaw Chief.
The tribal council voted Friday to hold a new election following Miko Denson's defeat by Phyliss Anderson.
The decision followed a complaint about voting irregularities during the primary election at one precinct. Anderson spoke on Monday saying this was "Simply an attempt to steal our election." in a statement from Miko Denson's campaign officials Sunday, the blame is being thrown at Anderson.
It states she is connected to outside interests with corrupting influences. Miko Denson refused to comment to WLBT Friday, but in Sunday's statement he was quoted saying "The most important thing for our tribe is the protection of our sovereignty and our sovereignty can only be maintained if our election process is conducted pursuant to election protocol and fairly."
