Miss Mississippi- Preparing For Miss America

Miss Mississippi, Mary Margaret Roark is preparing to represent this state at the Miss America Pageant.  Monday morning in Vicksburg Miss Mississippi went through paperwork, officially making her a candidate for the Miss America Crown.

Roark is 20 years old, a President's List student at Mississippi State pursuing a Communications degree. Roark says she is considering a career in corporate law. She graduated as valedictorian from her high school and says the 10 thousand dollar scholarship she received as this year's winner, will help continue her education.

"My mom has always told me I could argue with a wall, but I think law school is much more than that. I'm a logical person. I love to think things through and I love representing people so I think my communications degree will help me in that aspect of law school and I haven't really looked into it enough to know exactly what arena I'd like to go down but corporate law is definitely something I'd like to look into. And so I'm anxious to see where that takes me", said Roark.

Roark is already on the road making appearances and speaking to groups across the state. She will be in Vicksburg this week finishing the paperwork for Miss America and then she begins working on her wardrobe, talent and swimwear for the national competition.
