Getting Permission to Chase the Bad Guys

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A Jackson city councilman has asked for an investigation into why Flowood police chased a suspect into Jackson Tuesday night in one more example of America's war on crime.

He suggests they should have asked permission.

Such chases are not taken lightly by cops.

They all have rules on when and how to conduct a chase, such as this one a year ago which began in Ridgeland and ended in Jackson when the man rolled his vehicle into a home.

All these scenes captured by Metro One which ended up in the robber's capture.

Last October JPD Assistant Chief Lee Vance commented on chases involving career criminals:

"We've got to find out why the Michael Blacks of the world are not in prison. Today is an example of when we put officers at risk we put citizens at risk when we are chasing him down city streets and running through weeds trying to apprehend him every six months for committing felony crimes."

Wonder what would have happened if the U.S. had asked Pakistan for permission to go after Osama Bin Laden a few months ago?

 That's my Point ofView.
