Thousands of fish dead at Crossgates Lake

BRANDON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Thousands of fish are dead at Crossgates Lake, in Brandon. People who own property around the lake say they have been told that in the summer, the already shallow lake goes further down and the oxygen level gets low, causing the fish to die.

It produces an awful smell and hundreds of buzzards come to eat the fish.

They believe most of the fish are carp and shad.

This is a problem that happens almost every summer.
