JPD Sgt. reinstated

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

One week since being fired by the Jackson Police Department, Sergeant Tony Davis has been reinstated by the department. JPD spokeswoman Colendula Green confirmed this morning that Davis had been placed on administrative leave with pay on Tuesday.

Davis' dismissal followed a July 12 indictment which stated he was in possession of stolen property. Initially the 19-year law enforcement veteran was accused of having a stolen computer. However, the indictment reported that Davis was in possession of a stolen pick-up truck, yet made no mention of a computer.

In a statement last week the attorney for Davis, Faye Peterson, stated search warrants confirm that nothing stolen was recovered when authorities searched his home. Peterson proclaims that Davis is innocent of all charges.
