Heat & Isolated Showers Expected: 2 Tropical Storms Brewing

We are watchful for storms for today, and early this morning the initial shot of rain moved from Alabama into Mississippi moving directly toward the west. The concern for showers turning severe is a legitimate one.

The abundance of moisture in the atmosphere will feed spot showers to the point of possibly turning severe this afternoon. This concern will mainly be during the peak heating hours of the afternoon.

By tomorrow we'll have another round of rain pushing from the south, keeping our chances of showers in the 40% range for Friday and even going into Saturday.

Hurricane season is picking up steam as well, a new storm has been named in the Atlantic. Cindy formed far away from the east coast; moving quickly northeastward over the northern Atlantic. As of 4am our time, The center of tropical storm Cindy was located near latitude 38.3 north... longitude 49.1 west.

Cindy is moving toward the northeast near 28 mph. maximum sustained winds were measured near 60mph. Cindy will briefly strengthen in the next 24 hours before losing strength over colder waters.

Bret is still a tropical storm, but not prompting any coastal watches or warnings as of this morning. The center of Bret was located near 33.1 north (latitude)... 71.7 west (longitude).

Bret is moving toward the northeast near 8mph. Maximum sustained winds this morning were measured this morning around 4am. Bret is expected to be downgraded to a tropical depression or a remnant low pressure system by Thursday evening.
