Jackson Police have just confirmed with WLBT News that the man accused of running over 23 year old Scotty Ford early Friday morning will be charged with murder.
The accident that occurred near Target in Jackson early Friday morning may not have been accidental at all.
It started at the Electric Cowboy nightclub some time before 3 am. One man didn't like another flirting with a certain girl. Two carloads of people left and proceeded North on Ridgewood Road.
First stop, the Murphy's gas station at Ridgewood and County Line. Officers say 20-year-old Jeycob England rammed his Kia Sephia into Scotty Ford's black Acura. Ford was from Utah. According to his Facebook site, he had been in Mississippi for several months, hanging out with friends and selling home security systems.
The scuffle then found its way over to the Target parking lot, close to the I-55 Frontage Road. Two others were in England's car, and four others were with Ford.
England and Ford exited their cars and argued. "(The driver) of the Kia Sephia, the suspect, got back in his vehicle and ran over (the victim)", said Jackson Police spokesperson Colendula Green. We asked about Ford's injuries. "It was like on the midsection of the body, according to witnesses," Green told us.
Jackson Police confirmed with WLBT News that the charge against England will be upgraded to murder.
It's unclear if England was intoxicated.
