Taking Back Our Neighborhoods - Eyesore carwash follow up

Posted: Updated:
JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Earlier this month, I told you about a Jackson businessman who was fed up with an abandoned carwash across the street from his establishment.

Located on 3977 Terry Road, it had become an eyesore.

WLBT went back to see if anything had been done after our story aired and we discovered there had been some action.

Paul Berlin made 3 On Your Side aware of the abandoned Creekside Carwash on Terry Road July 7.

People had started using the property like a trash dump.

It was littered with unsightly debris with free access.

Our Taking Back Our Neighborhoods report on the problem aired July 11th.

The property is now trash-free.

There's even a barrier, blocking entry to the lot.

We asked how it took to clean the property after our initial report aired.

"I would say probably within 24 to 48 hours, they came out here and they really cleaned up the place really good," Berlin said.

Berlin said he had to put up with it in trashy condition for months before calling 3 On Your Side.

Berlin says he had contacted the property owners and complained to the city about the carwash.

The owners lost it to a bank and Berlin is not sure who cleaned it up but he's thankful it's done.

"I feel very, very pleased and it really thank Channel 3 for helping us get this cleaned," Berlin said. "I feel really good about it and it really makes the area look a lot cleaner and everything."

"Yes sir, it definitely was a great idea to call 3 On OUR side," Berlin said with a smile.
