Convenience store owner found murdered

GLOSTER, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A convenience store owner is found fatally shot after closing his Amite county business Friday night.

Gloster Police Chief Tommie Lee said officers discovered the body of 62-year-old Danny Carvan on Captain Gloster Drive.

Around 10 o'clock, the owner of Carvanville Convenience Store was found beside the passenger side of his truck, not far from his home and business.

Officers responded to reports of shots fired in the area.

Chief Lee said Carvan did not have any money with him when he left the store.

Amite County Coroner James Magee said Carvan was shot four times in the torso.

No motive has been determined and no suspects have been identified.

The Amite County Sheriff's Department, the Mississippi Crime Lab and the Mississippi Bureau of Investigations are assisting with the case.
