The governor recognizes small breweries with his proclamation of Mississippi Craft Beer Week.
Saturday's Top of the Hops Beer Festival at the Jackson Convention Center capped a week of statewide events.
For the second year Governor Haley Barbour has designated the last week of July a tribute to small businesses that comprise the craft beer community.
Organizers of Raise Your Pints said the events highlight the craftsmanship that goes into making gourmet beer products.
Last year more than 2,400 people sampled craft beer from around the world at the Jackson festival, which had an economic impact of more than $210,000.00.
"Recently Lazy Magnolia, which is our only state's brewery, was given a considerable loan from the federal government to expand. Craft beer in Mississippi is, it's a great way to increase revenue without increasing taxes," said Marika Cackett with the Jackson Convention Center.
Designated drivers wore red wrist bands and were provided with unlimited water and sodas.
