Simpson Co. inmate captured after eluding police for hours

SIMPSON COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A few brief hours of freedom Saturday for a Simpson County trusty who walked away from the jail.

Authorities began searching for 19-year-old Quadarius Chambers Saturday afternoon after he reportedly left the downstairs area of the jail.

Officials tell us he was captured around 7:30 at the Budget Inn on Highway 49 in Mendendhall.

Chambers, of Laurel, was a Department of Corrections inmate. He was serving a 4 year 6 month sentence for residential burglary.

He was not considered dangerous.
