SWAC Family Festival brings rivals together

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Football season is just around the corner and Saturday SWAC rivals came together for a day of fun.

The annual SWAC family festival was held at Battlefield Park in Jackson.

Alumni from universities in the Southwestern Athletic Conference gathered for a picnic with a purpose.

Not only did graduates and supporters mingle, but administrations provided information for interested students.

They were given literature on scholarships, enrollment and financial aid.

"The alumni from all the schools came out, young and old, they get an opportunity to meet some of the high school students that are coming in. We have everything that they need. We have food. We have entertainment," said Southern University Alumni Association past president Cecil Williams.

The family festival was hosted by the Jackson chapter of the Southern University Alumni Association.
