MADISON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Hollywood came to Mississippi for the premiere of "The Help."  The movie stars Emma Stone, Viola Davis and Octavia Spencer.   All of the stars arrived on the red carpet at Malco Grandview theater in Madison Saturday afternoon for the special screening.  Kathryn Stockett, the author of the best selling novel the movie is based on, is a Jackson native.  Her story surrounds the lives of white women and their black help back in the 1960s.

Dozens of people from across the state lined up to see the stars and packed the theater to watch the movie before it is released nationwide on August 10th.

"I love the book, read the book so we came to just see what's going on," said Kasie Wood who traveled from Tupelo.

"It was really exciting.  I bought the tickets about a month ago so I've been looking forward to it all month," said Brittany Osbourne of Flora.

"This is kind of one of those once in a lifetime things that we don't get to do here very often. It's fun that its about Jackson," said Sarah Lambert of Jackson.

The special screening of the help benefited Baptist Town Community Development in Greenwood.  The film was shot in that town and also here in Jackson.
