Dangerous Heat Advisories & Warnings

The tremendous amount of heat expected this week is so bad that 98 will be the 'lowest' high of the work week. Imagine this: going up to 100 degrees and staying there from Tuesday - Friday.

A heat advisory has been issued for all but a few SE counties for Mississippi until 7pm. Heat indices between 105 and 110 can be expected from about 1pm until 6pm today. And the rest of the work week doesn't look any better. Maybe a little relief by next weekend.

Our chances of rainfall is also dismal, making for parched conditions to continue to complicate any farming hope of crop yielding precipitation. We could see a 20% chance of showers over the weekend; but even that's being hopefully at best.

Be sure to seek refuge from the sun, not because of the heat only, but the UV index is high as well. We'll be in the 'EXTREME' category for UV index all week long. With high pressure in place, few clouds will form to protect us from the burning effect of the sun.
