Arrest in murder of Lanier Football Player

Lanier High School football player fatally shot

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

An arrest has been made in the shooting death of a Lanier High School football player. Jackson Police officer Colendula Green says 24-year-old Eric Gordan turned himself in.

Gordan is charged with murder in the death of Deronnie Spencer, who was shot while sitting in a car on California Avenue last Saturday night.

Spencer was rushed to University Medical Center where he later died.

Police have not released a motive in this case.
