JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Bond was reduced for a father and daughter accused of child neglect in Hinds County.

24-year-old Lena Crosby and 45-year-old Ed Crosby appeared before Judge Houston Patton Thursday afternoon for a preliminary hearing.

Patton reduced charges from three counts of child neglect to one count for Ed Crosby and two counts for Lena Crosby.  Bond was reduced to $10,000 for each charge.

"Almost any amount of bond is unreasonable in this instance because again he is without funds," said Frank Jones, Ed Crosby's court appointed attorney.  "His $10,000 bond coupled with his daughter's $20,000? It is a stretch."

In June three children were discovered alone in a cockroach infested home on Greenview Drive in Jackson.

"There was no refrigerator, no food in the home.  There was an infestation of roaches. There was sewage that was backed up in the home," said Hinds County Sheriff's Investigator Angela Williams.

Ed Crosby's 10-year-old daughter along with Lena Crosby's 2-year-old and 3-month-old children were taken to University Medical Center for examination.

Doctors ruled the 3-month-old was malnourished.  All remain in Department of Human Services custody.

Ed and Lena Crosby's cases will go before a Hinds County Grand Jury.
