There's been a bit of a shift in our forecast, slightly cooler but still dangerously hot. The Heat Warnings that were in effect for the I-20 corridor and near the Natchez, Vicksburg,Jackson and Meridian area have been downgraded to advisories.
Expect an abundance of sunshine today, and highs near 100 degrees. Heat index will climb to 109 degrees in most areas. But the southeastern portions of our viewing area will feel is get even worse. Simpson, Smith, Franklin down to Wilkinson counties and the southeast part of the state will feel it go to 115 or above.
Bottom line is this: the heat continues to dangerous levels statewide, regardless to area. No real chances of rain is expected until this weekend. And even then, our chances of rain will only rise to 20%.
Saturday and Sunday temps are expected to finally return to the 90s. Although they will be in the upper 90s, it's still going to be a relief from triple digit temps that we've experienced all week long.
