Woman killed in morning accident

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The morning commute turned deadly in the capital city Friday morning. Fifty-two-year-old Annie Washington died after a car wreck near the intersection of Highway 18 and Siwell Road in Jackson.

Jackson police officer Colendula Green says an 85 year-old man driving a white pick-up truck rear-ended Washington, who was driving a Hyundai Sonata.

Green says it's believed the Sonata was stopped at a red light. Both vehicles were traveling west on Highway 18.

"The driver of the Ford F150 was traveling behind a silver Hyundai Sonata, the driver of the Ford F150 struck the Sonata causing it to flip several times" said Green.

The driver of the pick-up received minor injuries.
