MS Wildlife Extravaganza kicks off 25th year

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The three day Mississippi Wildlife Extravaganza kicked off Friday afternoon at the Mississippi Fairgrounds.  More than 200 vendors packed the Trade Mart selling everything from hunting and fishing equipment to clothing and food.

In its 25th year the event added extra activities for children including a zip line and cutest camo contest.  Sportsmen looking to give back were encouraged to join Hunter's Harvest.  The program asked for donations of venison to give to the Mississippi Food Network.

Processing of the donated meat is free at Van's, Lee's, the Buck Shop and Sportsman's.  For more information go to

"They distribute a 100,000 meals a month all throughout the state so they are always looking for a lean source of protein.  Of course we're very rich with the deer resource here in Mississippi to feed people in need," said Leigh Bailey with Hunter's Harvest.

Mississippi Wildlife Extravaganza tickets are $8 for adults and $4 for children.
