Twitter post leads to stabbing death of teen

Posted: Updated:
RANKIN COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

An argument over a post on Twitter has led to the death of a Rankin County teenager.

Twenty-one year-old Dorian Cyrus is being held in the Rankin County Jail. Cyrus is being charged with murder. It happened Friday afternoon around 2:30 on Gilbert Circle off Luckney Road.

Nineteen year-old Jeffery Taylor Jenkins was stabbed once in the chest outside his home. Family members tell us he and Cyrus had gone to school together and had been friends.

Deputy Bryan Bailey said Cyrus and Jenkins had been arguing in the last week.

Family members tell WLBT the argument was over a post on Facebook or Twitter involving a girl. Today that argument escalated into violence.

"It's not worth it, losing your life over a girl or over he say or she say. Somebody got to have some sense. Somebody just think, just think. It is just not worth it to lose your life. He was only 19-years-old," said Thelma Paige, aunt of the stabbing victim.
