HINDS COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -
The Hinds County Democratic Executive Committee has yet to certify the election results from the August 2 primary.
Chair Claude McInnis says that will likely happen Tuesday evening during their 6:00 p.m. meeting.
Current vote tallies show Tyrone Lewis in the lead against incumbent Malcolm McMillin with 50.79% of the vote, avoiding a run-off.
Lewis commented on the election before attending a meeting at the Jackson Medical Mall.
"If crime wanna challenge the process, then they're in for a big fight," Lewis said to a possible challenge of the election.
Lewis thanked his supporters.
"We look forward to developing partnerships and relationships and getting out there and doing what we promised," Lewis said.
There will be run-offs in two county races, Constable District 1 and Supervisor District 2.
The run-off will be held Tuesday, August 23.
