Jackson man sentenced for failing to pay child support

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A deadbeat dad is headed to jail for failing to support his child.

Stacey Elvis Smith, 30, of Jackson plead guilty and was sentenced for felony non-support of a child.

Smith was sentenced to five years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections with 31 days imprisonment and four years and 334 days of supervised post-release supervision.

Smith owes $30,000 in child support.
