Jackson Academy Aims for Another Title

Posted: Updated:

JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - The Jackson Academy Raiders are coming off back-to-back AAA Division-I titles.

JA beat rival MRA in last seasons championship game, finishing out the season 12-1.

It marked the eighth state title for JA.

This season, coach David Sykes and the Raiders boast 27 seniors including starting quarterback Hull Bolls.

The Raiders will once again feature a strong rushing attack and it always helps when the players refuse to lose.

"We feel like we've got some solid football players again, that have played a lot for us. These guys don't like to lose. That means a lot when they expect to win when they go on the field. They are very competitive. That really helps our program," said Sykes.

"The closer we get, you get chills kind of. Tomorrow (Friday) is the first time we get to hit another team. We've been practicing three weeks now against each other, so, we are ready to hit somebody else now," said Bolls.

Jackson Academy will face Greenville Weston and McLaurin in a jamboree on Friday.

They open the regulars season August 19th against PCS.
