Hinds Co. Sheriff's Dept. Lt. and others help wheel chair bound robbery victim

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

"I saw the story on Channel 3 last night and it just tore me up. You know, you think to yourself, what kind of low life would steal a man's wheelchair?," said Lt. Jeffery Scott, Hinds County Sheriff's Department.

So, Lt. Scott picked up the phone and started looking for people willing to help Hobie Clark.

A week ago, he woke to find a robber in his trailer on John Warren Road north of Bolton. The thief not only took the small amount of cash in Clark's wallet, but stole his car which had his much needed wheelchair in the trunk.

Scott had no trouble finding generous people.

Demetrius Buckner and his fiance, Samantha Brown, bought a brand new wheelchair and put it together for Clark, much to his delight.

"Thank you, sir, so much. I'll take good care of it.

WLBT asked Mrs. Clark, "What do you think about a guy that will just come out and buy you a chair?"

He's God blessed. He's with God," Clark said.

"It let's you know there's still some good people around here and we're just so happy to be able to help Mr. Clark," Lt. Scott said.

But Scott says the blessing didn't end there.

"I've run into two angels in the same day, so a lady told me to head out toward Terry and she wants to make an anonymous donation of a van for Mr. Clark," Scott added.

"Praise the lord, this is good," Clark said.
