Internet war of words breaks out in MS killing

Posted: Updated:

The death of a black man in Mississippi who authorities say was deliberately run over by a white teenager has touched people across the country.

Many of them are pounding out their emotions on computer keyboards.

Deryl Dedmon and John Aaron Rice were both charged with murder in the June 26th death of James Anderson. Dedmon is charged with running over Anderson in his vehicle.

Rice's charge was reduced to simple assault after police testified he wasn't there when Anderson was killed. Prosecutors

still hope a grand jury indicts Rice for murder, saying he was part of a hate crime. Rice's attorney denies that.

Rice's supporters created a Facebook page called "Pray For John Aaron Rice." More Facebook pages followed, though others are themed against the teens. At least one site calls for their execution.
