Strong storms ripped through Warren County Saturday evening. Power lines and trees were toppled and at least one person was injured in Vicksburg. Damage reports started flooding into the WLBT newsroom after 6:30 p.m. A tree fell across Halls Ferry Road, shutting off access in the 3600 block.
At last check crews were working to clear the debris. A tree was also toppled on Cain Ridge Road breaking a power pole. High winds turned over a crane at the Washington Street Bridge. Power poles were snapped and one hit this white pick up truck. A mother and five children were inside the vehicle. A 19 year old was injured and taken to a local hospital.
"They were just all very very upset and crying. A couple of them were complaining of being hurt and instead of letting them sit in the truck they got out and I opened up the door and brought them into my apartment," said Dale Chancey who lived off Washington Street.
More than 2,200 Entergy customers in the Vicksburg area were left in the dark Saturday night after high winds knocked out power.
