TUPELO, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A small plane crashed on take-off Wednesday morning in Tupelo killing the pilot.

WTVA-Channel 9 reports that it happened shortly after 8:00 on North Coley Road.

The Lee County coroner confirmed that 69-year-old David Duncan was killed. Duncan was the only person onboard the aircraft.

The station, citing the FAA Registry website, says the Cessna 310 is registered to Hamilton Air LLC of Hamilton, Alabama.

Airport director Josh Abramson told WTVA.com that it appeared the plane was leaving Tupelo Regional Airport when it crashed in the front yard of a home near the Tupelo Furniture Market.
