Tropical Storm Irene Forms

Posted: Updated:

Late Saturday afternoon, Tropical Storm Irene was born east of the Lesser Antilles. This system continues to get better organized.

Irene is headed to the west, but is expected to curve northwest by Monday. Irene is forecast to become a hurricane within the next 36-48 hours.

The forecast track for Irene is still uncertain, but right now it appears Florida could take a hit from the storm by Friday. We will closely be watching this system over the coming days. Don't write Irene off yet.

Back at home, hot and muggy weather will continue. Highs will generally be in the middle 90s, with a few upper 90s possible.

A risk of storms will continue for Sunday afternoon. Rain chances will remain around 20% Monday and Tuesday. By the end of the work week, I expect better rain chances and a slight  cool down.
