Rain chances for south Mississippi on Monday

Posted: Updated:

Drier air will push into our area tonight and Monday. This will reduce rain chances for most of the area on Monday afternoon. I only expect showers and storms to form south of I-20, especially closer to Highway 84 on Monday. Then, dry weather will be in place for the entire area Tuesday through Thursday.

High temperatures will remain above normal through the week. Highs will generally be in the mid to upper 90s. Nighttime lows will be in the 60s.

I'm still tracking Irene, which will likely become a hurricane late tonight or Monday. Most data suggest Irene will have an impact on the Florida peninsula, with some data also suggesting the main impact may be along the Georgia or South Carolina coast. Right now it does not appear likely Irene will be a major player in our weather. We will continue to track the system through the week. You can, too, by visiting our online hurricane tracker.
