The sounds of hand bells rang out from a Jackson church Sunday night. The Bells of Faith from The Mustard Seed performed classic Christian hymns and received a standing ovation at Wells United Methodist Church on Bailey Avenue.
The Mustard Seed is a Christian non profit organization that helps meet the needs of mentally challenged adults. It has been chosen as the beneficiary for the annual WellsFest set for next month.
"It is really exciting. It is going to make a big difference at Mustard Seed's campus and we're so grateful to Wells," said Mustard Seed Executive Director Kit Barksdale.
"They have been a fantastic group to work with. They have been here to entertain us before, but not just entertain us, but to inspire us. They're a really neat group and boy do they work hard," said Pastor Keith Tonkel of Wells Church.
In 27 years, Wellsfest has helped raise nearly a million dollars for local charities. The support will allow the Mustard Seed to expand its ceramics studio and serve more clients.
