Clinton man sentenced for bank fraud

Posted: Updated:
CLINTON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The former assistant branch manager for Trustmark National Bank in Clinton has been sentenced to serve 24 months in federal prison for bank fraud.

William Walker, 43, of Clinton was also ordered to pay more than $86,500 in restitution to Trustmark Friday in U.S. District Court.

Walker must forfeit the same amount to the government.

From August 2006 through January 2011, Walker used the identifies of bank customers, as well as their certificates of deposits as collateral and fraudulently forged their signatures to create loans in their names.

Walker then deposited the proceeds from these loans into his personal account and used a portion to pay the previously obtained loans.
