CLINTON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The Copiah Bank of Clinton was robbed around 10 a.m. Wednesday morning. The robber, a lone black male, about five foot nine to ten inches tall, weighing about 200 pounds, was wearing tan clothing including the hat.

Police believe they have three sets of pictures of the robber because he considered holding up the Speedee Cash on Highway 80 and the Regions Bank before deciding on the small Copiah Bank branch in a strip mall at Cythina Street and Clinton Parkway.

Chief Don Byington was out there on foot helping his officers pursue the robber in a wooded area to the south of the bank. "A lone robber robbed the Copiah Bank here on Clinton Parkway, pointed a gun at the teller, demanded money, left the scene, ran into this wooded area east of the bank. We received information just a few minutes ago, Speedee Cash, that this subject was picked up by an individual driving a gray Chevrolet Impala."

Byington said there is a reward being offered in this case, but he did not reveal the amount.
