JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Nearly 1,800 new jobs could come to Mississippi, according to Governor Haley Barbour. His office says if lawmakers approve an incentive package during the special session Friday, two high-tech companies will locate their operations in the Magnolia state.

Calisolar will invest $600 million dollars, creating 951 full-time jobs with an average salary of $45,000, in Columbus to make silicon.

HCL Cleantech will spend one billion dollars to put its headquarters in Olive Branch, its research plant in Grenada, and other plants in Booneville, Hattiesburg and Natchez areas. The company will create 800 jobs with an average salary of $67,000.

HCL Cleantech converts biomass to sugars which are used in industrial products.

Lawmakers will be asked to approve $175 million dollars in bonds to make it all happen.
