A Florence woman who asked not to be identified says one night last year, Dwight Brinson watched two of her three young children. A few months later, Brinson was arrested on two counts of possession of child pornography.
"The night I seen it come on the news, I was like, honey that's our neighbor," she said. "I got sick. I literally got sick."
The mother is certain Brinson didn't harm her children, and she didn't know until 3 On Your Side told her Thursday that Brinson had been slapped with new charges this week.
"Three counts of touching a child for lustful purpose," said Florence Police Chief Richard Thomas. He says, after an investigation that began in July, officers picked up Brinson at his home without incident on Tuesday. But, Chief Thomas says Judge Ken Fairly has given Brinson bond in the amount of $450,000; $150,000 for each count of gratification of lust.
Chief Thomas believes it's because the alleged gratification of lust took place before the arrest for internet porn last year. "We contacted the District Attorney's office, let him know we have warrants on him, we were about to arrest him. We have placed him in jail," Chief Thomas said.
We knocked on Brinson's door. A woman answered and said she had no comment.
Chief Thomas said Brinson had not posted bond as of Thursday afternoon.
