Saucier residents witness possible tornado touch down

Posted: Updated:
SAUCIER, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Some people in Saucier were left mentally scarred after a tornado touched down, in the areas of Bond and Torries Roads.

A number of mobile homes were damaged, some turned on their sides. Fortunately no one was injured.

High winds tore through the town snapping trees, ripping power lines and crushing trailers, all evidence of a powerful tornado.

Residents reported feeling four or five seconds of loud vibrating, others saw the twister hover over their homes and later seeing the path of destruction.

Harrison County's Emergency Management Director Rupert Lacy says at least five homes were damaged in Saucier.

"People always look at Category 3 and 4 storms, but people don't realize this is the kind of damage that can happen from a tropical storm," said Jimmy Mornton, Saucier resident.
