The drier weather couldn't have come at a better time for central Mississippi. The after effects of LEE is still being felt, particularly along many of the rivers. The Pearl River is expected to stay above flood stage in the next 48-72 hours, the rain from LEE pushed the levels up by 20 feet due to heavy rainfall.
Just to give a perspective on the amount of rain, more than 10" fell is many areas. One unofficial report we have called in coming from Madden Mississippi was as high as 14.3" of rain during the time LEE passed over the state.
Today's Sunshine will produce very mild and dry conditions, high will be just under 80 degrees. Overnight cool conditions will stay dry as well, dropping to the lower 50s to the lower 40s.
There will be a warming trend kicking in by the end of the work week. Temps will climb to the mid to upper 80s over the weekend. The morning lows will be in the mid to upper 50s. Monday and Tuesday take an interesting turn. By next week we'll have temps back to the lower 90s. We don't expect another sweltering pattern to kick in, but we will get warmer.
